Montes Doggett has its roots in Mexico, where owner Monica Porter grew up. Her mother, who frequently hosted formal dinners and had an eye for simple and elegant settings, would whisper in Monica’s ear: “You should be the one setting the table. You do it so tastefully and beautifully.” Those early words – combined with stories shared over a meal – ignited a passion in Monica for table settings, entertaining and food. Even the name Montes Doggett recalls memories of family and food. Montes and Doggett are the maiden names of Monica’s mother and mother-in-law. Both women shared a passion for the home and table, and both knew memories created over food would be cherished by the family for decades. Montes Doggett believes in fair trade and celebrates the inherent beauty and craftsmanship of pottery made by loving hands. As you choose each piece, Monica hopes the fine work of the artists will spur good food, drink, laughter and memories at your table, just as they do at hers.
